The "Gilda" extract and editing before Smooth Criminal?

Hi everyone!
You remember in This Is It, there are giant screens in the background. Before Michael starts Smooth Criminal he appears in the same suit of the video with an extract of a movie called "Gilda"
I haven't seen it yet..do someone know the movie and tell me a bit about the synopsis? Why do you think he chose this extract in particular?
He's a fan of the director maybe?
